Gary E. Heyamoto, DDS, is a retired Bothell general dentist who was in private practice for 40 years. A 1980 University of Washington School of Dentistry graduate, he chaired the Continuing Dental Education program for the Washington Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) for 18 years starting in 2003. After personally locating a site and establishing the WA AGD Angle Lake Global Educational Center in SeaTac, he served as their initial clinical director, establishing the Mastertrack, Fellowtrack and Implant programs. He also has served on numerous committees for WSDA including two terms on the WSDA Board of Directors. Currently in retirement, he is active in the Washington State HPV Task Force, the Washington State Mass Disaster Team and the Lake Washington Institute of Technology Dental Hygiene School (Clinical and didactic as the DHYG 336 Pharmacology adjunct professor). He holds Fellowships in the Pierre Fauchard Society, Academy of General Dentistry, International College of Dentists, Academy of Dentists International and the American College of Dentists along with an AGD Mastership and four Lifelong Learner Service Recognition awards. He has been awarded the WA State AGD’s "Dentist of the Year" twice (2005, 2016), the Snohomish County "Citizen of the Year" Recognition (2018) and the WA State AGD’s "Distinguished Service Award" in 2019. As a change of pace from dentistry, for the past 42 years, he has had the privilege of being a statistician for the NFL (Seahawks) and the NCAA Football and Basketball (University of Washington). He has worked the last 16 Rose Bowls and 11 National NCAA Championship Football games (as the defensive statistician). He has worked games for SPU, Seattle U., Gonzaga and the Seattle Storm. Last season he experienced a lifetime dream of working the 2024 CFP Championship game in Houston with his University of Washington Huskies in it!
