We will cover how to put into practice all the knowledge on preventive and management strategies to treat dental caries with a chronic disease management plan, focusing on specific care paths for individuals of different ages and risk levels. A team approach is always the best way to reach patients to explain, remind, and reinforce the individual self-management goals established to attain and preserve oral health, therefore, the whole team is welcome.
Learning Objectives:
Understand the importance of managing caries by risk assessment to improve oral health and private practice impact.
Learn to use a caries risk assessment form not only to assess risk, but to identify the specific individual risk factors that should be targeted to change the oral imbalance towards health.
Become familiar with finding the patients' motivations to establish self-assessment goals to reduce caries risk.
Explore the feasibility of integrating these concepts in a private practice setting with the limitations of our systems.
