Since implant survival and success are greater than 95% in most short-term studies, long-term maintenance has come to the forefront of implant therapy. Although most clinicians know that maintenance is required after implant therapy, there are no universally accepted schedules, techniques, or guidelines recommended. In the past few years, several consensus conferences have been held and systematic reviews have been written to determine accurate diagnosis, prevalence, prevention, and treatment for peri-implantitis. This lecture will discuss current concepts in implant maintenance and peri-implantitis, and present some new concepts in treatment.
Learning Objectives:
This course will discuss diagnosis and prevention of peri-implantitis.
