The incidence of resorption has increased significantly over the last 20 years, but its etiology and management remains largely misunderstood. Resorption is a normal physiologic process in the primary dentition, but abnormal resorption in the permanent dentition can have devastating effects. This session will aid clinicians in the early diagnosis of internal and external resorptive defects to facilitate more predictable treatment outcomes.
Learning Objectives:
Define the classification of invasive cervical resorption and the influence on treatment outcome.
List the available imaging techniques and understand the importance of enhanced imaging for early diagnosis of cervical resorption.
Explain the treatment options and the appropriate biomaterials for the management of resorptive defects.
